Nexer Digital completes website rebuild for mine clearance charity The HALO Trust
The Macclesfield agency's new platform aims to lift donations and serves tailored content to supporters in the UK, US and Ukraine.
Nexer Digital, a human-centred design agency based in Macclesfield, has finished a digital transformation project for The HALO Trust, building a new online platform to help the international charity raise more donations, engage supporters and strengthen its global presence.
Nexer was hired to redesign and rebuild the charity's main website as part of a broader plan to grow fundraising and provide a more accessible, user-focused experience.
The HALO Trust is the oldest humanitarian mine clearance organisation in the world. It works in more than 30 conflict-affected countries and territories, clearing landmines and other explosive hazards so communities can rebuild. Love Island contestant Camilla Thurlow previously worked there.
What has changed
The new platform is built to support ambitious fundraising targets and make it easier for supporters to see the charity's impact and act on it.
One aim was a consistent experience for all supporters, with tailored content for audiences in the UK, US and Ukraine.
The site puts more weight on donation journeys, campaign content and programme pages. A new content management system built on Umbraco 17 lets the charity's teams create campaigns, publish content and run regional communications more efficiently.
The platform is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
During the nine-month project, Nexer Digital worked with teams across HALO's global operations and with international brand consultancy DragonRouge, which refreshed the charity's visual identity and tone of voice.
Nexer has now been retained on a year-long contract for ongoing support and optimisation.
The charity expects the platform to increase online donations, improve the user experience, show its global impact more clearly and provide better insight for future fundraising and digital campaigns. Content teams also gain a quicker publishing workflow for launching campaigns across international audiences.
