World Cup drives ITVX to 110 million streams in best week since 2024
The opening match between Mexico and South Africa gave ITV its biggest peak audience of the year so far, with 7.7 million viewers.
ITVX recorded 110 million streams from Monday to Sunday last week, its best seven-day performance in nearly two years.
It was the platform's strongest week since July 2024, boosted by England's friendly against Costa Rica, the start of the FIFA World Cup, Love Island and ITV's soaps.
On Thursday ITVX passed 20 million streams in a single day for the first time since the 2024 Euros. The total was driven by live streams of the World Cup opening ceremony and first match, along with large catch-up audiences for Love Island and solid viewing of the soaps.
The opening game between Mexico and South Africa on ITV gave the broadcaster its highest peak audience of the year so far, at 7.7 million.
ITV1 then had its biggest weekend, measured by average audience across Saturday and Sunday, since March 2025. Sunday night's Netherlands v Japan match peaked at 6.0 million, ITV's third-largest audience of the year after the opening match and the Corredale episode in January.
Germany's first group game against Curacao peaked at 5.9 million. ITV has so far had four of the top five peak audiences of the tournament.
Love Island is also delivering big streaming numbers. The first 14 episodes of the current series have generated 34 million streams, and Love Island, including Love Island All Stars, is the top title on ITVX so far in 2026.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which go up on ITVX at 7am on the day of broadcast, drew nearly 11 million streams over the seven days.
This week's highlight is England's opening group match against Croatia on Wednesday night, kicking off live in Dallas at 9pm UK time.
