STV Radio speakers join line-up for Radiocentre’s Tuning In Scotland
Broadcasters, brands and creatives will speak at the Edinburgh event on 18 March, including representatives of STV's new commercial station.
Radiocentre has confirmed speakers from broadcasting, brands and the creative industry for its Tuning In Scotland event, which takes place on Wednesday 18 March at Everyman Edinburgh.
They include Heart Scotland's breakfast presenters Des Clarke, Adele & Grado, senior figures from Global and Bauer Media Audio UK, and speakers from STV Radio, Scotland's newest station.
STV's move into commercial radio has been controversial. It comes at a time when advertising revenue at its core TV business has fallen and the broadcaster is making a series of cost cuts, including disputed reductions to its Scottish regional news service.
Sessions
Danielle Kelly, commercial director at STV, will appear with Ewen Cameron, STV Radio's breakfast presenter and co-host of the STV Radio Football Show, and James McLernon, head of marketing and brand at Scottish renewable energy supplier Lime. They will talk about how partnerships can grow businesses, focusing on Lime's sponsorship of the Football Show, a live broadcast and podcast about Scottish football.
Donna Burns, Radiocentre's head of insight, will present new evidence on radio's effect on performance marketing from the expanded study 'Radio: The Performance Multiplier – The Amplified Edit'. Elaine Gilmour, media lead at Tesco Insurance and Money Services, will join her on stage to explain how the business approaches radio and the results it saw as part of the research.
Charlie Brookes, director of digital at Bauer Media Audio UK, will explain how AudioXi brings digital audio advertising together, letting brands reach millions of people who listen via radio, streaming and podcasts. He will also cover how it was developed, what it offers Scottish advertisers and where digital audio is heading.
The Heart Scotland breakfast team, refreshed last summer, will appear with Andy Everett, Global's managing editor for Scotland & Wales, to talk about launching a new breakfast show in one of the UK's toughest markets.
John-Paul Hughes, executive creative director at MindField, will look at how audio creativity drives effectiveness, setting out a number of creative principles to show how strong ideas can stand out and connect with listeners.
Radiocentre chief executive Matt Payton will open and chair the morning, giving an overview of the market and an update on the organisation's policy priorities for the year.
Lucy Barrett, client director at Radiocentre, said: “We’re so pleased to be back in Edinburgh with these excellent speakers. This year’s event will showcase the strength of radio and audio in Scotland, from on-air talent and creativity to commercial innovation and effectiveness.”
Tickets are free for Scotland-based brands, agencies and Radiocentre members, though places are limited.
