Hebden Bridge Film Festival announces 2026 programme
The festival runs from 20 to 22 March with 16 feature films under the theme “Bearing Witness”.
Hebden Bridge Film Festival (HBFF) has published the full programme for its 2026 edition, which takes place in the West Yorkshire town from 20 to 22 March.
The line-up is available on the festival website, where tickets can now be booked.
This year’s festival includes 16 feature films, several with Q&As with filmmakers and guests afterwards. Many have already won international praise, premiering at festivals including Sundance and Venice and winning awards on the global circuit.
The theme is “Bearing Witness”, and the films deal with truth, memory and lived experience. The festival opens with neo-western Rebuilding, starring Josh O’Connor and Meghann Fahy, shown as an exclusive preview before its UK cinema release.
Other titles include Cherien Dabis’s award-winning Palestinian family drama All That’s Left of You, and Broken English, a documentary on the life and legacy of Marianne Faithfull, which will be followed by a Q&A with singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt.
There are also two premieres: the UK premiere of Yurlu | Country and the international premiere of Songs Inside.
HBFF will also screen a selection of short films by emerging filmmakers from Calderdale and further afield. Industry events and workshops will run across the weekend for filmmakers, creatives and audiences.
Festival director Louise Wadley said: “We’re incredibly proud of this year’s programme. It brings together powerful stories from around the world alongside exciting emerging talent, and we’re especially pleased that so many filmmakers and guests will be joining us for Q&As.”
“These conversations, alongside our workshops and industry events, are a vital part of what makes the Hebden Bridge Film Festival such a special experience.”
The festival is run in association with the restored Hebden Bridge Picture House cinema. Wadley and Jay Rutovitz founded it in 2019 to champion stories from people on the margins and outside the mainstream, and to promote films made by women, LGBTQ, working-class and BME filmmakers and filmmakers with disabilities.
Tickets for all screenings are on sale through Ticket Source.
