Citroën ad imagines a dachshund running for president in 2034

The 55-second spot uses an absurd future election to promote the length of Citroën's warranty.

Still from Citroën's ad featuring a fictional 2034 presidential debate

Citroën has released a 55-second ad set in 2034, depicting a fictional presidential election with three very different candidates, one of whom is a dog.

The film imagines a future in which constant disruption is normal and even major political events have become absurd.

It opens on TV news coverage of the 2034 presidential debate, where an anchor presents two candidates in the usual way before unveiling a third: Mr Doodlesworth, a top-hatted dachshund with a career as a social media influencer. As the crowd goes wild, the film cuts to a young man watching at home, plainly stunned.

A calm voiceover then reassures viewers: “Don’t freak out. In eight years, your Citroën will still be under warranty.”
