ITVX records 468 million streams in June as World Cup drives record month

Live football and Love Island pushed the streaming service past 400 million monthly streams for the first time, with 21 million users across June.

ITVX World Cup coverage

ITVX has had its best month on record, passing 400 million monthly streams for the first time.

A summer schedule built around live sport and reality TV delivered 468 million streams and 21 million users in June. That is 173 million more streams than in June last year and 85 million more than January 2026, the previous record.

The platform also passed 2 billion streams within six months for the first time, reaching the figure on 22 June. Last year it got there on 20 July, 28 days later.

ITV's largest peak audience of the year so far also came in June, when 16.4 million people watched England against Croatia on 17 June. With Love Island airing on ITV2 and ITVX the same night, ITV took 98% of all 16-34 viewing from 9pm to 10pm.

Football leads the way

Live football was the main driver of streaming during the month. Sixteen of the 20 largest live-streamed audiences on ITVX this year have come in the past 20 days, all for World Cup matches.

ITV broadcast seven of the 10 biggest group-stage matches. They included England's two wins, which peaked at 16.4 million and 13.8 million, the tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa, and matches including Norway v France, Netherlands v Japan, Scotland v Morocco and Germany v Cote D'Ivoire.

A dedicated fan zone in the ITVX mobile app has recorded 14 million sessions so far during the tournament.

Passwordless login, introduced ahead of the World Cup, now makes up 43% of all sign-ins.

Love Island and drama

Love Island remains the most-watched single title on ITVX in 2026. Streaming now accounts for 64% of its total audience, compared with 53% at the same point last year.

Outside football, it is the top title for 16-34s on any channel this month and the only non-football programme to achieve a 16-34 share of more than 50%.

Drama has also performed well. Seven drama titles have each passed one million streams since the World Cup started, offering viewers an alternative to the football. The strongest include Vera, Believe Me, The Family Next Door, Cape Rock Killer and The Affair.

Film viewing has risen by double digits since the tournament began, led by titles including The Gentleman, the Taken franchise and Dirty Dancing.
